“Hokkaido / Northeastern Jomon Archaeological Sites” Started earphone guide service with registration as a World Heritage Site

2021.08.13

The “North Tohoku Jomon Archaeological Sites” was officially registered as a World Heritage Site on July 27, 2021.
At Goshono Jomon Park, volunteer staff from the Goshono Site Support Association provide a free guide to the site.
Our earphone guide has been adopted for the purpose of facilitating group tours.

The Goshono Site is a site in the latter half of the middle Jomon period about 5,000 to 4,200 years ago, and is a popular tourist spot that represents Iwate Prefecture and is open to the public throughout the year as a national special historic site.
On July 27, this year, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially decided to register the “Hokkaido / Northeastern Jomon Sites” including the Goshono Site as a World Heritage Site.

By starting to use the earphone guide, the guide and the participants can guide while keeping a distance.
It has become possible to improve the efficiency of guides and take measures against new coronavirus infections at the same time.
