[The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko] The healing power of the magnificent nature of Oku-Nikko, a new spa treatment is born

2022.03.13

At The Ritz-Carlton Spa, we have begun offering spa treatments that focus on the three elements of “nature,” “culture,” and “spirituality.”

Before the spa treatment, the hot springs brought from Nikko Yumoto Onsen, which was discovered in the Nara period and has been popular as a hot spring for people for a long time, warms the body from the core and enhances the treatment effect.

The quality of the sulfur spring, which has a unique scent and is considered to be the fourth strongest in Japan, is effective for poor circulation and recovery from fatigue.
Since the content of the natural moisturizing ingredient “meta-silicic acid” contained in hot springs is high, it promotes the metabolism of the skin and has an excellent skin-beautifying effect.

The three programs begin with a foot ritual with mineral-rich hot spring water and clean salt from Futarasan Shrine, and end with the sound of flint stones, with the hope of praying for the health of the guests.
For those who live together in an era of change, please experience the feeling of vitality and sharpening to the depths of your heart.

◇ Nature - Nature Immersion

In the treatment room carved with peony, which is also a flower that symbolizes Nikko, you can calm your mind through deep breathing and experience the rich nature of Nikko.
Removes dead skin cells and leads to beautiful and smooth skin.
The technique of skillfully stimulating the acupoints using original essential oils inspired by bamboo sticks and peony flowers warmed to a comfortable temperature relieves muscle tension.
Please enjoy a relaxing time to feel nature and regenerate vitality.

◇ Culture - Sake Revive & Renew

It is a treatment that combines the latest technology with the famous water grown in Nikko, sake lees and rice oil that have been useful since ancient times in Japan made from organic rice produced in Tochigi.
A lees foam rich in vitamins and kojic acid that brightens and rejuvenates the skin on the back, then cleans the pores with ultrasonic waves and aspirators.
Warm rice oil is used to massage and nourish the body, leaving it beautiful and soft, as well as balancing the mind and body.

120 minutes ¥ 63,000

◇ Spirituality - Restorative Rock Ritual

It is a treatment that restores the balance of mind and body using basalt that is reminiscent of the history of Oku-Nikko, which was born from the eruption of Mt. Nantai.
After softening and lustrous skin with a salt scrub, basalt hot stones are used to stimulate circulation in the body and improve tight muscle tension.
The superheated steamer with excellent moisturizing power is effective not only on the skin but also on the respiratory organs such as the nose and mouth.

120 minutes ¥ 63,000

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
