2022.09.13

The “Autumn Leaves Open Bus Tour 2022” will be held at the hot spring inns “KAI Nikko”, “KAI Kinugawa” and “KAI Kawaji” located in Nikko City, Tochigi, where you can enjoy sightseeing without congestion.

Enjoy the autumn leaves up close on an open-air bus with an outstanding sense of freedom

The biggest attraction of this tour is that you can enjoy an overwhelming sense of openness.
The open-air bus does not have a roof, so you can enjoy the colored leaves up close.
Travel slowly so that you can fully enjoy the scenery, the refreshing autumn breeze, and the scent of the forest.

Two Routes to Visit Autumn Foliage Spots in Tochigi

<Irohazaka Route>
Irohazaka, a scenic spot for autumn foliage that connects the city of Nikko with Lake Chuzenji and Oku-Nikko, is famous for its 48 curves and steep slopes that go up and down with an elevation difference of about 440 meters.
Many cars pass through the peak season of autumn leaves, and it often leads to traffic jams.
In this tour, you can enjoy the autumn leaves in the quiet morning without traffic jams by operating early in the morning with overnight guests on board.

<Ikari/Kawaji Dam Route>
The Isori Dam and Kawaji Dam, located upstream of the Kinugawa River, are well-known fall foliage spots for the scenery of natural red and yellow trees interwoven with structures such as bridges and dam bodies.
The Ikari Dam is covered in autumnal leaves like a brocade, and the Kawaji Dam is an arch-type dam with one of the highest embankments in Japan.
In addition, the surface of the water is an emerald green called Kawaji Blue, and you can enjoy the contrast with the autumn leaves.

Local winter protection goods to support comfortable ride [NEW].

In this tour, we will give you a local hot water bottle to keep you warm during the ride, and amazake(sweet sake) after the ride.
You can rent a hot water bottle wrapped in a Tochigi traditional craft “Kurobane Aizome” cover when boarding the bus, so you can enjoy the tour comfortably even in the chilly weather.

And after boarding, you can enjoy the afterglow of the tour while taking a break with amazake.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
