[Art AQUARIUM Museum] Spring special project “Sakura Goldfish Dance and Swim” held

2021.03.11

For a limited time from March 6th (Sat) to May 9th (Sun), we will hold the first spring special project “Sakura Goldfish Dance and Swim” as “Art AQUARIUM Museum”.

The Art Aquarium by Hidetomo Kimura, an artist and general producer, is an art exhibition where you can swim a beautifully dancing goldfish in an aquarium that you have designed uniquely, and charm it with the original production of light, sound, and incense. From Saturday, March 6th, we will hold a special exhibition of various works and space production with the motif of cherry blossoms, which symbolizes spring in Japan, for a limited time. We will welcome you in a spring outfit after taking all possible measures against the new coronavirus.

In the special project, a large number of goldfish of varieties related to cherry blossoms such as Sakura Nishiki, Sakura Ryukin, Sakura Higashi Nishiki, Sakura Daruma Ryukin will be gathered, and the entire venue will be dyed in cherry blossoms in spring. You can enjoy the feeling of cherry blossom viewing unique to the aquarium. In addition, in line with the special event, the “Suigian Lounge” in the building will offer sweets and drinks with a cherry blossom motif for a limited time.

At the Art AQUARIUM Museum, we plan seasonal exhibitions and events. Please enjoy the beautiful goldfish art that can only be experienced in this season.

Greetings from Art Aquarium artist Hidetomo Kimura

From the spring of 2020, when the corona shook, to the present, I wanted to heal the unrelenting world situation and the heart tired from going out with the extraordinary experience provided by the beautifully dancing goldfish dance and light, sound, and incense. We will hold a special spring event.
We will welcome you in a new outfit with cherry blossoms, which symbolize spring in Japan, scattered throughout the venue, as the delicate seasons change, which can only be felt in this season.

Spring will come even in the unfocused days of patience, as if all of this had stopped. I sincerely hope that you can take you on a “trip to the unreal world of cherry blossoms” for a moment.

The entire space is wrapped in cherry blossoms and a trip to the fantastic cherry blossom forest! "Goldfish Forest"

One of the popular works of “Art AQUARIUM MEXT”, “Goldfish Forest”, you can enjoy the fantastic world where many goldfish swim, with life-sized water columns lined up like a forest. As you wander around and watch, the boundaries between the two different worlds, the world in the water and the world outside, become blurred and you are surrounded by floating spaces.

In the special spring project, the entire floor in the area turns pink in the image of a cherry blossom carpet, and the moment when the light that illuminates the water column and the effect that wraps the entire space in cherry blossoms weave together, you can go to a different space while watching the work. You can enjoy a new sense of cherry blossom experience that makes you feel like you have tripped.

"Goldfish Collection" that dances and swims in the glittering weeping cherry blossoms

In the goldfish collection area, goldfish, which are “living art”, are exhibited one by one, and you can appreciate them while appreciating rare varieties that you do not usually see. This time, a mysterious weeping cherry tree tunnel that interweaves Edo Kiriko in the shape of cherry blossom petals and glittering crystals and fiber lighting appears. At the moment when the circular aquariums protruding from the walls on both sides of the goldfish collection are dyed in cherry blossoms all at once, a mysterious world of cherry blossoms that you have never experienced awaits you.

First appearance at Art AQUARIUM Museum "Sakurarium"

A limited exhibition work only during this period, in which the cherry blossom daruma Nishiki dances beautifully and elegantly in the aquarium shaped like a huge cherry blossom. It fuses with the space of the goldfish forest and creates a mysterious cherry-colored unreal world.

Pay attention to the "giant fishbowl oiran" dressed in gorgeous costumes!

At the end of the exhibition space “Oiran Dochu”, which expresses the flower district of the Edo period, “Giant fishbowl Oiran”, goldfish of varieties related to cherry blossoms such as Sakura Nishiki, Sakura Ryukin, and Sakura Tonishiki will gather. It is as if Oiran, who reigns at the top of Edo’s Hanamachi, wears gorgeous costumes with cherry blossom goldfish and shows overwhelming beauty to visitors.

"Goldfish decoration on the floor" is an art work created by the intersection of the shadow of a goldfish and an ink painting.

Since ancient times, hanging scrolls have been welcoming guests in consideration of the season. The “floor-mounted goldfish decoration” that welcomes customers at the entrance of the “Art AQUARIUM Museum” is a work expressed in the world of ink painting expressed in monochrome, but it is made by projection mapping specially made for a special project. Bright pink cherry blossoms are drawn in the world and make you feel the color of spring.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
