A winter festival filled with the charms of Matsumoto Castle
The “Castle Town Festival of Light and Ice,” consisting of the city’s two major winter events, “Matsumoto City Illumination” and “National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Ice Sculpture Festival,” has finally begun.
During the three months from December to February, the city will be decorated with city center illumination, including the “Matsumoto Castle Laser Mapping: Ice Crystal Shimmering Water Mirror”. In late January, the “National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Ice Sculpture Festival” will feature the castle and the snow-capped Northern Alps in the background, creating an instant art form of ice sculpture. This winter, Matsumoto, Shinshu, will be a fantastic and magnificent world of light and ice.
