Dazaifu Iinoji

Dazaifu Iinoji offers a Kaisen Chirashi Gozen (Seafood Chirashi Set) made with 15-grain rice, inspired by the ancient rice eaten in the Kofun period. The set also includes konnyaku, a speciality of Gunma Prefecture, where there are many ancient tombs and haniwa, and mentaiko (cod roe), a typical ingredient of Kyushu, combined with kobachi, sukini and chawanmushi.
For children, the children’s Kofun Curry features rice with an image of a burial mound and the gentle taste of honey. The drink line-up includes Jomi Cider (non-alcoholic), which uses jomi, a nut that was eaten by people in the Kofun period, and Jomi Maurice (alcoholic), which softly spreads the refreshing acidity of jomi and the gorgeous aroma of maurice.

Kyushu National Museum M Café
The M Café, located in the corner of the Kyushu National Museum Entrance Hall, offers a range of visually pleasing snacks and sweets that make you want to take photos.
Snacks are served daily with Haniwa sandwiches printed with Haniwa. There are five flavours: BLT, chicken cutlet, menchikatsu, shrimp cutlet and egg sandwich. For sweets, visitors can enjoy Haniwa Chocolate Yokan with ‘Haniwa Odoru Hitobito’ motif and Haniwa Dorayaki with lots of red bean paste and mochi (sticky rice cake).

Nine Expo Gardens Footbath teahouse
For a limited time, the dorayaki in the café set at Kyuhaku Garden Ashiyu Teahouse, next to Dazaifu Iinoji, will be replaced with a Haniwa imprint. The dorayaki is stuffed with fruits such as strawberries and kiwi, with plenty of whipped topping, and pairs perfectly with Yame tea, Kyushu’s famous tea.

Haniwa, a special exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Kyushu National Museum.
The Haniwa Special Exhibition is being held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the designation of Haniwa Keiko no Bujin (Warrior in Keiko Armour), the greatest masterpiece among the haniwa, as a national treasure, and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Kyushu National Museum. Around 120 selected treasures from all over Japan will be brought together on an unprecedented scale.
