In response to the Minami Izu Cherry Blossom and Rape Blossom Festival, which starts on Saturday 1 February, the resort hotel ‘Kakuemura Minami Izu’ in Minami Izu-cho will operate a free shuttle ‘Sakura Bus’ and ‘Night Sakura Bus’ for guests only every day during the festival period.
Minami Cherry Blossom and Rape Blossom Festival heralds spring on the Izu Peninsula.
Surrounded by mountains, rivers and the sea, the natural beauty of Minami Izu is brought to life in spring by the cherry and rape blossoms of Minami. Along the lazy Aono River, some 800 Kawazu cherry trees blossom and sway in the spring breeze. The locals call them ‘Minami no sakura’ (Minami Cherry Blossoms).
Minami no sakura is a place where the arrival of spring is celebrated in a relaxed atmosphere rather than a commercial one.
The Minami Cherry Blossom and Nanohana Festival fits this impression perfectly.
Together with the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival in Kawazu Town, which takes place at the same time, it is known as the “spring festival” that heralds the arrival of spring on the Izu Peninsula.
