The streets of the Uchiyama district, which has been selected as a preservation area for important traditional buildings in the country, are lined with high-quality townhouses in the Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras. In December 2017, Arita was selected as one of the 20 Best 20th Century Heritage Sites in Japan for Cultural Landscape of Arita.

Starting from JR Arita Station, a free tour bus runs three times a day around the Uchiyama area, where the Aritakan is located, and Arita Sera’s dolls. Fares are free. Inside the car, you can enjoy sightseeing information with a veteran guide from Arita.
