Free opening of the Sukiya Garden of 6,000 tsubo and the Sasa Botanical Garden [Sasa Rikyu] boasting a collection of more than 120 species.

2020.06.15

At the Tateshina Sasa Botanical Garden, the “Sasa Rikyu” is a combination of the authentic 6,000 tsubo migratory Sukiya garden and the Sasa Botanical Garden, which boasts a collection of more than 120 species. It will be open for free from Sunday to October 31st.

Some events have been canceled this year due to measures to prevent new coronavirus infection, but from June, when you can see the most beautiful appearance of bamboo bamboo throughout the year, individuals and families can enjoy it. At last, I decided to open the Sasari Palace free of charge only for one year this year.
On a clear day, you can see the bright green color of the bamboo leaves that received the light of early summer, and the leaves shine brightly and beautifully when the rainy season receives dew. Against the backdrop of beautiful bamboo grass, various types of cherry blossoms will appear in spring, and variously colored hydrangea paths will appear in early summer. In addition, irises, various flowers, and beautiful autumn leaves are waiting for you. The medicinal botanical garden in Uchirochi is one of the highlights.
Another authentic attraction of Sasa Rikyu is the authentic Sukiya garden designed by Kiyoshi Yasui, a traditional architect who was involved in the “Great Showa Renovation” of Katsura Rikyu. Sukiya-zukuri, which was born in Kyoto and has been protected by savvy people. And its shape and fragrance are deeply engraved in the Japanese mind. We hope that you will enjoy the place where old and new beauty are in harmony.

At the Tateshina Bamboo Botanical Garden, the bamboo grass and Sukiya gardens of the Sasarikyu are regarded as local assets, and we will continue to make efforts to share them with the local people.

Introduction of Sasarikyu

Tateshina Kogen is held on the magnificent Yatsugatake. A botanical garden dedicated to bamboo grass that spreads over a vast site and gathered more than 120 species of Kumazasa centered on domestic and overseas bamboo grass. The Botanical Garden, which has gathered so many Kuma-Zasa’s friends, is unrivaled in the world and aims to become the world’s number one bamboo botanical garden. I am aiming to do so.

Bamboo Botanical Garden Area (about 4,000 tsubo):
The Bamboo Botanical Garden area was designed and constructed with the full support of the Fuji Bamboo Botanical Garden in Shizuoka Prefecture, which currently boasts the largest scale of bamboo bamboo in the Orient. Not only as a botanical garden categorized based on the latest knowledge, this area also has the world’s largest Tsukubai “Suigetsusen” and the school warehouse “Kamiza” that enshrines running Daikoku “Kamikura)” is arranged and is integrated with the Sukiya garden area. Also, one of the highlights is the Jomon Kiln, a bamboo-roofed Jomon pit dwelling that embodies the prosperous medium-term Jomon culture.

Sukiya Garden Area (about 2,000 tsubo):
The Sukiya garden area is composed of Sukiya architecture and Sukiya garden that incorporate bamboo bamboo everywhere, and designed by Mr. Kiyo Yasui, who is famous for renovating the Katsura Imperial Villa in the Showa era and renovating and restoring the national treasure tea house Ryoan and Machian. it was done. At first glance, the design of the master craftsman, who has been assimilated into the climate of Tateshina Kogen, does not seem like a botanical garden.

Medicinal Botanical Garden:
The medicinal botanical garden area focuses on medicinal plants found in Nagano Prefecture, and is designed not only as a sample of precious medicinal plants, but also for enjoying beautiful flowers of medicinal plants each season.
