Blessing of Shinshu to the whole country! “Summer Solstice Wild Vegetable Gourmet New Year” 30 sets limited sale

2020.06.14

Yama Co., Ltd., which operates a local restaurant Yamachaya where you can enjoy natural wild vegetables and mushrooms, has recently created “Summer Solstice Wild Vegetable Gourmet Osechi”. From June 16, 2020, we will start accepting applications for only 30 sets.
With the current corona erosion, sales decreased by 80% from the previous year, and while there are no customers who can eat edible wild plants, we will make and sell new osechi that is a combination of wild vegetables and special ingredients of Shinshu for the whole country.

A collaboration between local high-class gourmet ingredients and wild vegetables

The snow-covered mountains of Kitashinano are a treasure trove of wild plants. More than 100 types! There are many unique wild plants that are not known to the world.
In Shinshu, there are many Shinshu specialty gourmet ingredients such as Shinshu beef, Shinshu golden chamo, Shinshu olein pig, Shinshu salmon, Saku carp and ayu.
Using these ingredients, the owner and the chef have been developing food with a tripod for over 30 years. This year’s osechi is a gourmet osechi filled with such mountain and local food.

Meaning of eating "Yamasai osechi" in summer solstice

The Heian era aristocrats prayed for a year’s health by picking grass and incorporating wild grass into their bodies. The summer solstice (June 21st) is one of the twenty-four festivals. Half a year has passed since the New Year’s holidays, and thank you for all the disease-free disasters that have occurred until then, and take in the blessings of nature that fill the mountains during this time, and spend the remaining half a year healthy. With that in mind, we will make “Yamasai New Year”.
