[Higashiizu Kitagawa Onsen] Enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms at night on the terrace

KISSHO CAREN, Higashiizu-cho, Shizuoka Prefecture, will sell accommodation plans from February 10 to March 31, 2020, from early blooming Kawazuzakura to Yoshino cherry tree.

Higashiizu / Kawazu-cho is known as the birthplace of Kawazu Sakura, and this year we will also hold the “Kawazu Sakura Festival” every day from February 10 to March 10 organized by the tourist association. About 8,000 Kawazu cherry blossoms bloom in Kawazu-cho, the venue for the event, and about 850 cherry blossoms bloom along the river.

At Kissho CAREN, you can enjoy the cherry blossom baths flowing from your own source while watching Sagami Bay, with Kawazu Sakura and Oshima Sakura blooming in February and Yoshino cherry tree in mid-March. Sakura pancakes are available for afternoon tea. Invite to “Sakura Terrace” for after dinner. You can spend a moment before your break with hot kahlua, Irish whiskey, Sakura Amazake and original sweets while watching the cherry blossoms at night. The 30th Kawazu Sakura Festival

Spring ahead with early blooming Kawazu Sakura. About 8,000 cherry trees bloom about 4 km along the Kawazu River and about 8,000 cherry blossoms throughout the town, and the Kawazu Sakura Festival is full of tourists every year. On the promenade along the river, cherry blossom arches, cherry blossom footbaths, and illuminated cherry blossom trees light up, so you can enjoy the arrival of spring. There are about 150 stores at the venue, and it is popular for enjoying local products and local gourmet along with cherry blossom viewing.

ZIPANGU Contemporary artists who have run through the Heisei era” Takashi Murakami x Sueo Mizuma dialogue: ‘Beyond the Theory of Artistic Entrepreneurship’ / Interview with Mr. Mizuma: ‘Rediscovering the Value of Japanese Culture by the Japanese People

The Hiroshima Museum of Art is hosting the exhibition “ZIPANGU: Contemporary Artists Who Defined the Heisei Era” (November 2, 2024 – December 22, 2024). This showcase brings together works by some of the most prominent figures in Japan’s contemporary art scene, including Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Yoshitomo Nara, Chiharu Shiota, Izumi Kato, Akira Yamaguchi, and Miwa Komatsu. The exhibition has already garnered significant attention, exceeding 10,000 visitors.

HYAKKEI covered the dialogue between contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Sueo Mizuma, the curator of this exhibition, held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima. We also conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Mizuma.

The discussions centered on the aspirations behind the ZIPANGU exhibition and offered forward-looking insights, not only into Japan’s art world but also into the rediscovery of value within Japanese culture by its people.

Two types of autumn-only red seals, ‘Chrysanthemum and Tanzaku’ and ‘Autumn Leaves and Candles’, are now available at Daisho-in Temple, Miyajima, a World Heritage island.

Two types of paper seals made exclusively for autumn, ‘Chrysanthemum and Tanzaku’ and ‘Autumn Leaves and Candles’, have been available since Monday 9 September at Daisho-in Temple on the World Heritage island of Miyajima. Quantities are limited and will run out as soon as they are gone.
