Aomoriya “Hanami Kotatsu” where you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing sake while warming up with a kotatsu

2021.02.01

At “Hoshino Resort Aomoriya”, an inn where you can fully enjoy the culture of Aomori, “Hanami Kotatsu” will be held from April 20th to May 9th, 2021 when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, where you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing while warming up with a kotatsu. In the chilly spring of Aomori, we will install a kotatsu under the cherry tree so that you can enjoy the cherry blossoms comfortably, and serve 10 kinds of local sake from all over Aomori prefecture. You can enter the kotatsu and enjoy cherry blossom viewing while watching the cherry blossoms up close.

After the cold winter, the people of Aomori focus on cherry blossom viewing to enjoy the long-awaited arrival of spring. Aomori-ya will hold cherry-blossom viewing kotatsu so that you can enjoy cherry-blossom viewing even in the chilly spring of Aomori. We also prepare local sake, cotton-filled hanten, and hot water bottles, and propose cherry blossom viewing that can only be done at Aomoriya.

Three points to enjoy cherry blossom viewing

1. Kotatsu for cherry blossom viewing in the shape of a flower

A colorful kotatsu in the shape of a flower will be installed under the cherry trees. This kotatsu looks like big petals are dancing, and makes the scenery of cherry blossoms even more attractive. Not only does it warm you up, you can also enjoy it with your eyes.

2. Drink and compare 10 types of local sake

You can enjoy cherry blossom viewing sake by choosing local sake and sake set from Aomori. Aomori Prefecture has different climates and abundant nature in each region due to its complex terrain. The individuality of each brewery is added to the raw materials and manufacturing environment that take advantage of the local climate, creating local sake with different aromas and tastes. We carefully select 10 types of local sake that are loved by the locals, and behave so that you can enjoy drinking from room temperature to hot sake.

The sake set uses Aomori’s traditional crafts, Tsugaru Vidro, Tsugaru Kanayama Yaki, and Hachinohe Yaki. You can also enjoy the way the scent changes depending on the shape and type of sake set.

3. Rental of hanten and hot water bottle with cherry blossom pattern

We will lend you a cotton-filled hanten and hot water bottle with a cherry blossom pattern so that you can warm your feet with a kotatsu and also warm your upper body. If you go into a kotatsu, put on a hanten, and hold a hot water bottle, you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing warmly.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
