Held “Tokyo Spring Day Boat Play” where you can enjoy cherry blossoms from rickshaws and chartered boats

2021.03.07

The Japanese inn “Hoshinoya Tokyo” will hold “Tokyo Spring Day Boat Play” from March 25th to April 10th, 2021 where you can enjoy cherry blossoms from rickshaws and chartered boats. In this activity, you will drive to Nihonbashi Pier, which is the platform for boats, and then take a boat from Nihonbashi River to Sumida River to see the highlights of cherry blossoms along the Tsukuda Island coast and Oyoko River.
On the boat, we will offer a special cherry-blossom viewing lunch box and sake with a pale color reminiscent of spring. In a private space called a chartered boat, you can enjoy an elegant spring time with your family and friends, away from your busy daily life. In addition, we will implement corona measures such as hygiene management and three-cs avoidance so that you can participate with peace of mind.

The town of Edo prospered as a “city of water” with advanced water transportation functions for transporting goods and people. In the vibrant town of Edo, where wholesalers and markets were born around the waterways and restaurants spread around it, people found a lot of fun at the waterside. One of them is “Fune play” where you can enjoy the rich waterside scenery of the four seasons from the boat.

In spring, the cherry blossoms planted by the Tokugawa Shogunate in Edo along the Sumida River are in full bloom, and the shogunate encouraged the common people to go to the resort, so it is said that people enjoyed cherry blossom viewing from the boat. In Hoshinoya Tokyo, we planned this activity with the desire to spend an elegant and luxurious spring time away from everyday life while feeling the atmosphere of Edo.

Three points to enjoy "Tokyo Spring Day Boat Play"

1. Enjoy the view of cherry blossoms and the waterside of Tokyo from the top of the boat

Take a chartered boat from the Nihonbashi River to the Sumida River, and from among the many highlights of the cherry blossoms on the riverside, tour the spots that are in full bloom on that day according to the tide level and flowering conditions. From the open pier seats outdoors, you can enjoy the scenery of Tokyo’s tourist attractions such as Eitai Bridge and Tokyo Sky Tree, as well as the beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom along the river.

In addition, the guide of “Fune Play Mizuha” who operates the boat will introduce the surrounding tourist attractions such as the history of the bridge and the town. Even in places you are familiar with, you can discover charms that you have never noticed by looking at them from a new perspective from the boat.

2. Cherry-blossom viewing from a rickshaw where you can enjoy an extraordinary feeling

3. Special Hanami bento and Hanami sake by a long-established restaurant

For lunch, the long-established restaurant “Shin-Kaika”, which has a store under Kanda Myojin, will prepare a special cherry-blossom viewing lunch box originally tailored for Hoshinoya Tokyo so that you can enjoy it while watching the cherry blossoms on the boat.

Inside the two-tiered wooden layer, there is “Sakura Chirashizushi”, which is a vinegared rice made with black vinegar and a slightly cherry-colored sea bream kelp, as well as colorful spring ingredients such as bamboo shoots and wild plants. It’s full of side dishes.

In addition to offering sparkling sake for a toast, you can compare several types of seasonal sake carefully selected by Hoshinoya Tokyo staff along with delicious side dishes.
