2021.03.27

“Machizukuri Obama Co., Ltd. (commonly known as Obama Tourism Bureau)”, a tourism community development corporation in Obama City, Fukui Prefecture, is a decentralized old folk house hotel “Obama Machiya Stay” that can be rented as a whole, and food that can be enjoyed only by Obama We will start selling a variety of 13 plans that include experiences of nature, history, and culture.

Obama City, Fukui Prefecture, is located almost in the center of the “Wakasa region” in the southwestern part of Fukui Prefecture, and just north of Kyoto. Known as a treasure trove of food since ancient times, it has a history as a “food country” (Miketsukuni) that has delivered abundant ingredients unique to Kyoto and Nara through the “Saba Kaido”.

We are currently operating 5 inns with the concept of “staying like living in Minato-cho, where Kyoto cuisine was raised.” Even in the case of Corona, there is little contact with other guests, and it has been well received that you can enjoy your stay slowly.

Until now, “Obama Machiya Stay” has not served dinner and has encouraged the use of restaurants in the city. We received feedback from customers who wanted to have a recommended shop and sightseeing experience that only the locals would know.

Obama City has traditional events such as Satoumi and Satoyama including Wakasa Bay, spacious temples and shrines, and festivals that breathe in the air. You can experience various things according to the season, such as the experience of sharpening chopsticks, which is unique to Japan’s largest production area of chopsticks.

Against this background, Machizukuri Obama Co., Ltd. stays at Obama Machiya Stay and Obama City so that more people can enjoy the rich tourism resources of Obama City based on “Obama Machiya Stay”. That is why we will start selling a new plan that includes experiences of food, nature, history, and culture that you can enjoy.

Eighty Years After the War: A Reflection on the Preciousness of Ordinary Life YUKIKAZE – In Theaters Nationwide from August 15, 2025

“To Return Alive, To Bring Others Home Alive”

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2025—marking eighty years since the end of World War II—YUKIKAZE is a feature film based on the true story of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) destroyer Yukikaze, a vessel that rescued countless lives amid the horrors of war. A press screening was held in advance at the Sony Pictures screening room.

The destroyer Yukikaze, which served throughout the Pacific War, was renowned for rescuing numerous sailors thrown into the sea during fierce naval battles, surviving to the end of the war virtually unscathed. It earned the legendary moniker “the lucky ship.” This film brings to life the ship’s heroic journey, alongside the lives of those who persevered through one of the most turbulent eras in modern history.

Leading the cast is Yutaka Takenouchi as Captain Kazutoshi Terasawa—a fictional amalgamation inspired by the real-life captains of Yukikaze. Hiroshi Tamaki portrays Petty Officer First Class Kohei Hayase. Supporting roles are delivered by an ensemble of acclaimed actors including Daiken Okudaira, Rena Tanaka, Kanji Ishimaru, and Toru Masuoka. Kiichi Nakai delivers a commanding performance as Vice Admiral Seiichi Itō, the Second Fleet Commander of the IJN who met his fate aboard the battleship Yamato.

In today’s world, once again shaken by division and violence, YUKIKAZE poses an urgent question to those of us living in the peace that others fought to protect: Are we once again treading the path of past mistakes? As collective memory of the war fades, this film becomes ever more vital—a call to reflect on the true value of peace.
