Hoshino Resort Aomoriya is a facility where you can enjoy activities such as festival shows. This year, in addition to the co-starring show with the festival group, the staff of Aomoriya went to four festivals, and from July 31st to August 8th, the Aomori Neputa Festival and the Hachinohe Sansha Taisai Festival (Hachinohe-san) took place in four days. We will participate in the Shataisai, Goshogawara Tachineputa, and Hirosaki Neputa Festival.
In the summer of 2020, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, festivals in each region including the Aomori Nebuta Festival were canceled. To encourage the festival groups who have lost their place to perform, we held a co-star show at Aomoriya.
The participating groups said, “I was happy to have the opportunity to perform while the festival was canceled,” and “I enjoyed being able to participate together.” I felt the success of the co-starring. In addition, the staff of Aomoriya, who plays every day, was also inspired by seeing the authentic performance technique up close.
With gratitude for the co-star show, we will participate in the real festival and perform together in 2021 to liven up the four festivals.
At the show venue “Michinoku Festival” in Aomoriya, staff have been playing musical instruments since the opening in 2006, and the Aomori Festival has been shown in a show format. The festival is indispensable to the culture of Aomori, and it is also an indispensable element for Aomoriya, whose concept is “Nore-sore (*) Aomori-Human Story-“.
* Meaning full in Aomori dialect
During the four festivals, which are concentrated from July 31st to August 8th, Aomoriya staff will go to each festival to perform. Aomoriya staff will also participate in the group practice starting in July to learn performance techniques and how to show them to the audience. Participate with the same tension and passion, as some festivals have awards given to the best performing groups.
We will have four festival groups come in turn and perform the co-starring show of the four major festivals in Aomori again. Guests can listen to the authentic performances while staying at the facility and feel the heat of the Aomori festival live.

During the period, about 20 large Nebuta floats with a width of 9m, a depth of 7m, and a height of 5m will parade. In addition, “Haneto”, who wears a flower cap on his head, wears a white yukata and a red or pink tasuki, is indispensable for the Aomori Nebuta Festival. The shout of “Russell” and the Nebuta music echo, and the whole city is lively so that you can fully enjoy the short summer of Aomori.
Holding period: August 2th – 7th
It is a festival registered as an important intangible folk cultural property of the country, boasting a history and tradition of about 300 years. On December 1, 2016, it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The floats, which are 10m high and 8m wide, are made with themes such as myths and Kabuki. Children play a central role in hitting the small drums that are lined up next to each other on the floats.
Holding period: July 31st – August 4th
About 15 huge floats with a height of about 23m and a weight of about 19t will be operated. Several Hayashikata, composed of drums, flutes, and tehiragane, took the lead, followed by dozens of jumpers calling out “Yattemare” and so on. Continue.
Holding period: August 4th – 8th
Along with the shout of “Yayado”, we will parade around the city centering on the floats with a warrior picture of up to 9m. Hirosaki Neputa has a fan-shaped Neputa and a paired Neputa (doll-shaped), and a total of about 80 Neputa, the largest number in the prefecture, gather in the castle town.
Holding period: August 1st – 7th
