Early autumn foliage season has arrived at Tsugaike Nature Park in the Central Alps National Park!

The autumn foliage season has started earlier than usual at Tsugaike Nature Park in Chubu-Sangaku National Park, which is located at an elevation of 1,900m. Although there were concerns about the lingering summer heat, the cooler mornings and evenings have allowed us to start seeing the autumn leaves in the marshland from mid-September, and we will soon be able to see the spectacular autumn leaves in brocade colors.

Tsugaike Nature Park” is located in Chubu-Sangaku National Park, which straddles Nagano, Niigata, Toyama, and Gifu Prefectures, and is one of the highest marshlands in Japan, covering approximately 100 hectares at an altitude of 1,900m, accessible by gondola lift and ropeway. The magnificent Hakuba Sanzan (Three Mountains of Hakuba) and the Hakuba Daisetsukkei (Great Snow Gorge), one of the three largest snow gorges in Japan, can be viewed from the observatory marsh, and at the same time, a variety of flora and fauna can be observed.

Hiking through the autumn foliage in the park, with its well-maintained wooden paths, is a special experience that allows visitors to feel the change of the autumn season. Walking through the cooler temperatures, pleasant breezes, and the scent of autumn in the air, you can feel the change of the season firsthand.
Carpet of autumn leaves spreading out at your feet
In early October, the autumn leaves will further spread to the foot of the mountain, and visitors can enjoy a 30-minute walk in the air with a carpet of autumn leaves at their feet from the windows of the gondola lift and ropeway that take you to the Nature Park.
