A journey begins to discover the charm of Japanese culture while dynamically sliding like a roller coaster through the world of “Kanagawa Okiura” drawn by Hokusai Katsushika.
A variety of cultural assets that rush in one after another like a wave are a collection of masterpieces that represent national treasures and other collections of the Tokyo National Museum!
At present, the capital city of Tokyo and the town of Edo depicted in Ukiyo-e may seem like a different world. However, no matter how the times or the cityscape changes, the activities of people who enjoy the beautiful nature and traditional events of the four seasons, and the unique aesthetic sense of Japan that has been nurtured in those days, will continue without change.
The 10-minute gliding experience invites you from the Tokyo National Museum, the gateway to Japanese culture, to an endless journey exploring the attractions of Japan.

At the theater on the 1st basement floor of the Tokyo National Museum Toyokan, we offer a new VR experience of viewing cultural assets. With the ultra-high-definition VR image projected on a large screen measuring 6.6 meters in width and 3.7 meters in height, you can thoroughly enjoy the texture of cultural assets and the detailed modeling that cannot be seen with the naked eye. In addition, by performing live performances while navigators operate VR images, you can deepen your understanding of cultural assets through communication with customers.
