The Kamakura Prince Hotel is offering an accommodation plan that includes a ticket to Hase Temple and an entrance ticket to the Hydrangea Road from Saturday, 31 May to Monday, 30 June 2025, to coincide with the hydrangea season.

The hydrangeas that adorn the rainy season are a popular annual feature of the ancient capital of Kamakura.
Hase Temple is particularly famous for the thousands of hydrangeas that fill the precincts of the temple, and the walking path called ‘Hydrangea Road’ is known as a superb view of the colourful flowers.

In order to enable visitors to Kamakura during the beautiful hydrangea season to fully enjoy the attractions of Hase Temple in a deeper and more comfortable way, this plan includes a Hase-ji temple ticket and an entrance ticket to the hydrangea path, and allows smooth entry so that you can enjoy viewing hydrangeas to your heart’s content.

About Hase Temple

Hase Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kamakura, said to have been founded in 736 during the Nara period.
The temple boasts approximately 2,500 hydrangeas of more than 40 varieties, which bloom along with the view of Sagami Bay. The temple grounds, which are deep in greenery, are constantly in bloom throughout the four seasons and are known as “Kamakura’s Western Paradise”.

Hydrangea afternoon tea

Themed around the beautifully blooming hydrangea, the menu features a variety of lovely-looking sweets, such as jelly with shimmering petals like drops, muffins in the shape of hydrangeas and Mont Blanc. In addition to the regular menu, a non-alcoholic hydrangea-coloured cocktail with the subtle sourness and sweetness of violet syrup expresses the refreshing taste of early summer. Each dish tells a hydrangea story, offering a blissful tea time experience.

Seasonal courses

This is a gentle, cool course unique to the rainy season, delicately combining colourful seasonal ingredients.

From the starter to the main course, the seasonal changes are reflected in the aromas, colours and tastes of the dishes, including a starter with a perfect balance of fruity acidity and salty Jamon Serrano, potage with the sweetness and fresh aroma of seasonal beans, plump steamed white fish with seaweed and a colourful summer vegetable sauce. From the starters to the main course, the course is a feast for all the senses.

Special Exhibition “Daikakuji Temple, Former Saga Gosho – New Currents: Paintings Related to the Gosho” will be held at night to commemorate the 1,150th anniversary of the temple’s founding.

Due to the popularity of the exhibition “Daikakuji Temple, Former Saga Palace: New Flowers and Paintings Related to the Palace,” which will be held at the Heiseikan of the Tokyo National Museum from Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the museum will be open at night. In addition, from Tuesday, February 18, a limited-edition novelty gift will be distributed to visitors who purchase exhibition merchandise for 4,000 yen or more, including tax.

[KYUKAMURA OHMI-HACHIMAN]Tour of Lake Biwa’s famous landmarks ‘Enjoying “Biwa Ichi” by bus – around Lake Biwa’ tour.

The resort hotel ‘KYUKAMURA OHMI-HACHIMAN’, located on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, in Omi Hachiman City, known for its Omi merchants and Azuchi Castle, is inviting participants to join the ‘Biwaichi’ bus tour, which immerses them in the historical romance of Shiga Prefecture, which has flourished as a key transport hub since ancient times, close to Kyoto and Nara.
