[Hoshino Resort KAI IZUMO]-Summer vacation rediscovers the charm at a local hot spring inn, a safe and secure trip

2020.07.09

Hoshino Resort KAI IZUMO, an onsen ryokan located in Tamanezu Onsen in Shimane with all guest outdoor baths, promotes “micro tourism” as a way of traveling during the With Corona period, and develops various initiatives. In contrast to “travel” that imagines distant and overseas, “Microtourism”, which dares to visit within a short distance, touches the goodness of Shimane prefecture again to feel attachment and find new favorites, etc. You can enjoy a journey full of unawareness.

3 By staying at a safe hot spring inn where thorough avoidance and hygiene management are thoroughly performed, you can enjoy a meal of kaiseki cuisine that uses “Nodoguro” that is familiar in the local area, and “Iwami Kagura” etc. You can spend the day rediscovering the locals.
In addition, to facilitate casual use, we will also sell a “local limited plan” for Shimane residents and a “hot spring rest plan” where you can stay without meals.

The highlight of microtourism to the world Izumo ~Summer 2020~

1 Local music "Iwami Kagura"

Shimane Prefecture, which is set in many Japanese myths and is dotted with many shrines such as Izumo Taisha Shrine. It is also a land full of “kagura” danced to dedicate to God.

At KAI IZUMO, the staff will showcase the traditional performing arts “Kagura” that are handed down in this area. The performance is “Orochi,” which is a myth related to Izumo and is also the highlight of Iwami Kagura. The staff in bright costumes dance dynamically to the light music.

2 Local room "Izumo Takumi no Ma"

“Takuma Izumo” was created in collaboration with “Shimane R Product”, which consists of five young craft artists. A lot of works with traditional techniques and new sensibilities such as Izumo forging, Sekishu Washi, and Kumiko work decorate the room.

The fusuma and shoji made from Sekishu Washi, which is also registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, creates the warmth. Kumiko’s ceiling lighting, in which several kinds of fine wood pieces are assembled to draw patterns, and the sconces and paper lanterns, which are made by forging Izumo, give off a gentle light.

3 会席料理の一品 先付「のどぐろの炙り 生ハム 柚子大根」

I thought about a dish that brings out a new charm by using the familiar Nodoguro. The Nodoguro has its skin firmly roasted in order to enhance its rich fragrance.

The ham and radish are finely chopped, combined with the yuzu juice, and the ham is finely beaten and mixed thoroughly. The rich richness of nodoguro and the aged umami of prosciutto match very well. It is a new encounter between seafood and mountain food.

4 Summer hospitality

Blissful brewed beer

In the world, we will develop “Bifu no Yu-age Beer” that can be drunk only at hot spring inns, and will provide it at 15 facilities under the same brand all over Japan. KAI IZUMO serves this beer in the guest room.

It is also recommended to drink on a stool lined with a bamboo garden with a Japanese umbrella. You can drink while taking a breath while listening to the sound of bamboo grass swaying in the wind. For beer, Izumo soba, which is a local dish of Izumo, is served as a side dish of Soba Sashimi. For the other part of the split chopsticks, use the original sauce that contains the dashi stock of shijimi or flying fish.

Local shaved ice “Ginger shaved ice”

Shaved ice is one of the summer traditions. In the ancient Heian period, it was also drawn on pillow Soshi. In the world, we devise unique shaved ice for each facility and provide it every summer. In the world of Izumo, ginger has a great flavor and aroma, and is characterized by a refreshing spiciness.

It is sung by Shimane’s folk song, “If you want to be a daughter, go to Desaigo, you will not get a cold with the smell of ginger,” and it has been used to prevent colds. A syrup with a scent of sweetness that can help you overcome hot summers.

Hoshino Resort KAI IZUMO (Tamazo Onsen, Shimane Prefecture)
An inn with an open-air bath in all rooms, standing in the Tamazukuri Onsen in Izumo, the land of gods. You can fully enjoy the hot spring of Bihada and the famous hot spring in your room. The meal is a multi-course meal that uses plenty of seasonal ingredients such as shijimi and crab. It is also a good idea to enjoy Matsue’s chanoyu culture in the tea room while looking at the beautiful Japanese garden. The location is ideal as a base for sightseeing in Shimane including Izumo Taisha Shrine.

Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture] “Submerged Forest of Lake Shirakawa,” a Mysterious Spring-Only Scene

The mysterious scenery of Lake Shirakawa in the town of Iide in southern Yamagata Prefecture can be seen only during two months in spring. In spring, a large amount of melt water flows into Lake Shirakawa from the Iide mountain range, one of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains, where there is heavy snowfall. When the lake is full of water, it creates a fantastic sight of white willow trees as if they are growing out of the water.

[Hoshinoya Tokyo] “New Year’s Kabuki Stay” brings the hospitality of an Edo Period theatrical teahouse to the present day.

Hoshinoya Tokyo, a Japanese-style inn located in Otemachi, Tokyo, will again this year host the “New Year Kabuki Stay” program, a two-day and one-night stay from January 5 to 26, 2024.
For people living in Edo, one of their New Year’s pleasures was to watch Kabuki, and it was a chic way to spend the New Year. Theatrical teahouses supported this way of enjoying Kabuki. In addition to arranging tickets to the theater, the teahouses delighted patrons by providing a complete range of services, including plot notes, tea, sweets, makunouchi box lunches, and snacks and drinks (*1). Hoshinoya Tokyo offers a stay to celebrate the New Year with hospitality similar to the theatrical teahouses of the time.

From November 22 (Wed) to December 3 (Sun), 2023, an autumn foliage lighting event will be held at Shinjuku Gyoen. Following the cherry blossom event this spring, Shinjuku Gyoen and Naked will collaborate again this fall for the autumn foliage event. Shinjuku Gyoen, one of Tokyo’s most famous gardens, is one of the few places in the city where visitors can enjoy the autumn leaves. The 200-meter-long rows of plane trees, the best maple tree spot in the city, Momijiyama, and the “Middle Pond,” with its spectacular reflection in the pond, will offer a world where the autumn leaves of Shinjuku Gyoen and Naked’s art and food are fused together.
