KAI Hakone detailed information

1 Local music “Yosegi CHAYA”

Hakone was the first difficulty for travelers heading to Kyoto, and was an area where “tea culture” that heals travelers was popular. In KAI Hakone, “Yoseki CHAYA”, which recreates the culture after dinner, opens every night. Not only do you know the roots of Hakone Parquet, a traditional craft, but you can also enjoy it, enjoy it, choose your favorite vessel, and actually use it. You can spend the night in the mood of a traveler with seasonal drinks and sweetness.

2 Local room “Hakone Parquet Room”

A local room completed in collaboration with Hakone Yosegi writer Kiyokatsu Tsurugi and Kiyotaka Kiyotaka, who have both traditional techniques and a modern feel. On the top floor, which boasts the best view, you can enjoy chatting surrounded by traditional crafts such as a Japanese-Western style room with a living room, a parquet furniture and an open-air terrace that allows you to monopolize the nature of Hakone with an open-air bath. There are three types of “Japanese-style room with a murmuring stand” where you can feel the murmuring of the river.

3 One piece of kaiseki cuisine “Smoked salmon paris soir”

Due to the history of Hakone, which has developed as a summer resort for Westerners, we have arranged the popular Paris Soir, a hot spring resort, in the Hakone style. Paris Soir is a dish resembling an evening view of Paris, where smoked salmon is used to describe the burning sunset, jelly of dashi stock is a sunset glowing with a madder red color, and potato soup is a tanning cloud.

Iide Town, Yamagata Prefecture] “Submerged Forest of Lake Shirakawa,” a Mysterious Spring-Only Scene

The mysterious scenery of Lake Shirakawa in the town of Iide in southern Yamagata Prefecture can be seen only during two months in spring. In spring, a large amount of melt water flows into Lake Shirakawa from the Iide mountain range, one of Japan’s 100 most famous mountains, where there is heavy snowfall. When the lake is full of water, it creates a fantastic sight of white willow trees as if they are growing out of the water.

[Hoshinoya Tokyo] “New Year’s Kabuki Stay” brings the hospitality of an Edo Period theatrical teahouse to the present day.

Hoshinoya Tokyo, a Japanese-style inn located in Otemachi, Tokyo, will again this year host the “New Year Kabuki Stay” program, a two-day and one-night stay from January 5 to 26, 2024.
For people living in Edo, one of their New Year’s pleasures was to watch Kabuki, and it was a chic way to spend the New Year. Theatrical teahouses supported this way of enjoying Kabuki. In addition to arranging tickets to the theater, the teahouses delighted patrons by providing a complete range of services, including plot notes, tea, sweets, makunouchi box lunches, and snacks and drinks (*1). Hoshinoya Tokyo offers a stay to celebrate the New Year with hospitality similar to the theatrical teahouses of the time.
