I will start writing at Kyodo, an important cultural property of Kiyomizu Temple. The Buddhist scriptures are stored in the Kyodo, and it is a place of study where monks from all over the country once gathered to copy and study the scriptures.
In the solemn atmosphere of the sumi-e dragon god and the statue of Shaka Sanson on the ceiling, you can renew your feelings in your New Year’s aspirations.

Just as the word “calligraphy is a person” is used, the letters express the heart. In this activity, Mr. Osho will talk about Mr. Kannon while guiding the precincts of Kiyomizu-dera before starting writing. By listening to Mr. Osho’s story in the quiet precincts of winter, you can face yourself and prepare yourself for the beginning of writing.

The day before the beginning of writing at Kiyomizu-dera, a private lesson on calligraphy will be held under the guidance of a calligrapher in the quiet Hoshinoya Kyoto in winter.
After learning how to hold and posture the brush and practicing the basic “stop” and “payment”, you will practice writing one Chinese character at Kiyomizu-dera. By concentrating and slowly repeating the same movements, you can calmly reach the stage.
