-Shinwa Auction holds an art auction utilizing Haneda Airport and bonded warehouse-
On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, a special auction hosted by Shinwa Auction Co., Ltd. United Asian Auctioneers “Shinwa Auction x LARASATI Auctioneers x iART auction x KUNGSHI x A | A | A | A x ISE COLLECTION” will be held at Haneda Airport No. 1 It was held at the terminal, Galaxy Hall.
NFT art was also lined up at this auction, and works that transcended national borders and time were gathered, befitting the gateway to Japan’s sky, and the venue was filled with enthusiasm.
Andy Warhol’s “Silver Liz”, a lot of interest this time, recorded a winning bid of 2.3 billion yen, renewing the highest bid in the domestic auction.
This was a major update, more than double the winning bid of 1 billion yen for Pablo Picasso’s “The Weeping Woman” which was previously recorded by iArt Co., Ltd. in 2010.
In addition, the total successful bid amount for the entire auction was 3,145,720,000 yen, and the successful bid rate was 82.01%.

This auction also attracted attention as a “bonded art auction” utilizing the bonded warehouse at Haneda Airport.
Bonded art auctions can be held on December 1, 2020 and February 26, 2021 due to the partial amendment of the Basic Notification of Customs Law.
Foreign cargo can be stored in the bonded warehouse, and customs duty and import consumption tax are reserved until the import declaration is made.
Japan’s first bonded art auction was held in 2021 by another company.
This time, it will be held by an international auction alliance in which auction houses such as Shinwa auction Co., Ltd. (Japan) and Larasati auctioneers (Singapore, Indonesia) participate, and it will be the first attempt in Japan for a tax-protected art auction by an international alliance.

The Hiroshima Museum of Art is hosting the exhibition “ZIPANGU: Contemporary Artists Who Defined the Heisei Era” (November 2, 2024 – December 22, 2024). This showcase brings together works by some of the most prominent figures in Japan’s contemporary art scene, including Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, Yoshitomo Nara, Chiharu Shiota, Izumi Kato, Akira Yamaguchi, and Miwa Komatsu. The exhibition has already garnered significant attention, exceeding 10,000 visitors.
HYAKKEI covered the dialogue between contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and Sueo Mizuma, the curator of this exhibition, held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima. We also conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Mizuma.
The discussions centered on the aspirations behind the ZIPANGU exhibition and offered forward-looking insights, not only into Japan’s art world but also into the rediscovery of value within Japanese culture by its people.
