The ‘Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route’, one of the world’s leading mountain tourism routes connecting Toyama and Nagano Prefectures, will fully reopen on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. The ‘Snow Corridor’, a springtime tradition of the Alpine Route, will reach a height of 12 metres. The popular ‘Snow Corridor Walk’ event, where visitors can experience this spectacular wall of snow up close, will be held from Wednesday 15 April to Thursday 25 June.
The ‘Snow Valley Walk’ – an event where you can experience the spectacular snow walls
We will be hosting a variety of events where you can experience the charms of spring in the Tateyama-Kurobe region, where white snow and blue skies come together, including the main event, the ‘Snow Valley Walk’, the ‘Panorama Road’ where you can enjoy a stroll through the snow amidst sweeping views, and the ‘Snow Corridor’—a hidden gem in Murodo-daira also known as the ‘Snow Glen’.
The Alpine Route at its finest: a season woven from snow, blue skies and fresh greenery
In spring, the Alpine Route offers more than just the ‘Snow Valley’; the snow-covered landscape of Murodo Plain and the views from the Tateyama Ropeway are also highly recommended. From around mid-May, the snow begins to melt at Mikuri Pond, one of the Alpine Route’s most iconic scenic spots, revealing the lake’s surface as it glows with the beautiful ‘Mikuri Pond Blue’. From mid-May through to June, it is a truly luxurious season where you can enjoy the three colours—the ‘Mikuri Pond Blue’, the white of the remaining snow, and the fresh green of the new foliage—all at once.
