“HANAIRO Pencil” that turns shavings into petals

2020.01.29

Flower colored pencils are traditional Japanese color pencils that have the traditional “shape of flower” and “color of flower”, and make the heart fun, such as shavings turning into petals.

The shaft around the core is made of a new eco-friendly material made from waste paper to combine unique soft colors with ease of shaving. The shavings can be disposed of as combustible waste as before. The core of the pencil uses a domestic high-quality color core, and you can enjoy writing comfortably.

The cross section is in the shape of a flower

Flower colored pencils represent the shape of a typical Japanese flower on its cross section. Cherry blossoms, red plums, dandelions, tokiwa, and bellflowers. Not only its cuteness, but also its functionality makes it easy to hold and slip due to its shape.

Petals are born from shavings

Flower-colored pencils have the shape and color of traditional Japanese flowers, so shaving them produces shavings that look like real petals.

Made from new environmentally friendly materials

It seems that a lot of wood is lost when manufacturing ordinary pencils. The flower colored pencil uses a new material from Made in Japan that uses waste paper as the main raw material for the wood. At the same time as recycling, it is manufactured using the same molding method as plastic, so no material is lost. The shavings can be disposed of as combustible waste as before.

Hoshinoya Tokyo, a Japanese-style inn located in Otemachi, Tokyo, will again this year host the “New Year Kabuki Stay” program, a two-day and one-night stay from January 5 to 26, 2024.
For people living in Edo, one of their New Year’s pleasures was to watch Kabuki, and it was a chic way to spend the New Year. Theatrical teahouses supported this way of enjoying Kabuki. In addition to arranging tickets to the theater, the teahouses delighted patrons by providing a complete range of services, including plot notes, tea, sweets, makunouchi box lunches, and snacks and drinks (*1). Hoshinoya Tokyo offers a stay to celebrate the New Year with hospitality similar to the theatrical teahouses of the time.
