Koishikawa Korakuen Garden: Ume plum blossoms in the garden are at their best.

2024.02.23

There are about 150 ume trees in Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, and the early-blooming ume trees begin to bloom around December. This year, the blooming started slowly, but thanks to the warm weather, the early and mid-blooming ume varieties were at their best earlier than usual. The fragrant scent of ume (Japanese apricot) is in the air, heralding the early arrival of spring.

"Ume Festival" is underway.

The Plum Blossom Festival “To the Garden Scented with Plum Blossoms” will be held in conjunction with the plum blossom viewing season. The festival will also feature performances of “Touboku,” a Noh play of the Hosho school of traditional performing arts, special guided tours to learn about the profound world of ume (Japanese apricot) blossoms, and a class on how to brew delicious Japanese tea, which will allow visitors to experience Japanese culture in a familiar setting.
Please enjoy an early taste of spring at the Koishikawa Korakuen Garden with its fragrant plum blossoms.
